Our product works without cell phone service. You only need a cell phone to set up your own group. Traccy uses a protocol similar to radio frequency but with extended range capabilities.
Location
Traccy uses a LED matrix to show you the direction and distance of your friends. Each ring on the matrix is assigned to a distance, making it easy to estimate how far your friends are.

Our Roadmap
Idea
Initially, two students came up with an idea, but they quickly realized the project was too big for just them. So, they got two more students to help.
Some progress
After a lot of brainstorming, the students agreed on some ideas. They made a circuit board design and found all the necessary parts.

Utilizing multiple LED rings, users can easily estimate distances between themselves and their friends' devices. Custom distances can be set by the user in the app. ๐จโ๐จโ๐งโ๐ง
If you're not feeling well, our device offers a solution. Simply hold down the button for 5 or more seconds, and every user in your group will be notified. Additionally, the LED display on your friends' devices will blink, making it easy for them to locate and assist you in your time of need.
Yes, it's safe to use. We encrypt location data with a unique key, randomly generated and assigned to each group. This means even users with the same device from another group can't access your location data. We also recommend turning off the device when not in use to save battery ๐.
Yes, our device offers more than just showing your friends. Equipped with a built-in microphone, it analyzes the music spectrum and dynamically generates animations in real time, adding an exciting visual element to your experience.
We utilize a protocol called Long Range Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN) to transmit data. Location is determined by a GNSS unit, accurate within 70 centimeters. In crowded areas, while we may not achieve pinpoint accuracy, you'll still be within range to easily spot your friends.
The range of our device is determined by its users. The more people using and actively engaging with the device, the larger the range becomes. Each device forms part of a mesh network, where signals are repeated and relayed by other devices, resulting in an effectively unlimited range.
Yes, our device is designed to also be used at the beach. It is 100% waterproof, dustproof, and sandproof, with an IP67 rating and the ability to withstand depths of up to 2 meters underwater.
Yes, we are currently developing an app that will allow you to set your friends' code/group code via Bluetooth. Additionally, the app will feature Google Maps integration, enabling you to spot your friends easily. With access to each user's GPS/GNSS location data, we can swiftly provide the fastest route to their location on Google Maps.
